ArrowXL Head of Health and Safety shows off new defib unit with first-aid colleagues

ArrowXL, the UK’s leading two-person home delivery expert, has taken important steps to protect the wellbeing of its employees by acquiring four Automated External Defibrillators (AED). The move forms part of the company’s ongoing commitment to investing in health and safety and to ensure it can react as quickly as possible in light of a medical emergency.

Each year, more than 30,000 people across the UK suffer a sudden cardiac arrest outside of a hospital environment. They can affect anyone at any time and every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces a victim’s chances of survival by 7 to 10 per cent.

ArrowXL has installed an AED at each of its hubs across the UK - Wigan, Airdrie, Droitwich and Enfield – where each of the appointed on-site first aiders have received specific training in how to use the equipment.

Thomas Ball, Head of Health & Safety at ArrowXL, said: “With the average emergency service response time to a cardiac incident now standing at 11 minutes, it is important that our workplace knows how to act quickly when a medical emergency such as a cardiac arrest occurs. Each AED is a vital piece of life-saving equipment that no hub should be without and we are now better equipped to save lives.”
